Newly Updated and Revised
by Howard M. Knoff, Ph.D. and Cheryl Dyer
Response to instruction and intervention (RTI2)--now embedded in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) involves evaluating the degree to which students (a) master academic material in response to effective instruction, and (b) demonstrate appropriate, prosocial behavior in response to effective classroom management.
When students are not progressing or "responding" to effective instructional conditions, academically or behaviorally, MTSS/RTI2 uses a data-based, functional assessment, problem-solving process to determine the reason(s) for the lack of success and select strategic instruction/ interventions to help those students progress and be successful.
This newly updated and revised handbook (delivered as an electronic E-book) presents an integrated evidence-based blueprint that guides effective classroom instruction and behavior management. The blueprint includes an MTSS academic and behavioral service and support continuum that ensures that at-risk, underachieving, or unsuccessful students receive the services that they need to be successful.
